Fasnia’s Romería de Los Roques stands out from most of the others near El Médano for one reason: the route. Rather than a short procession through the village centre, this one walks from the heart of Fasnia out to the small hamlet of Los Roques — a longer, more rural stretch than you’ll find at most romerías in the south.
When
📅 Saturday 19 September
What makes it different
The walk itself is part of the experience here — expect more countryside and less crowd than the bigger coastal romerías, and a genuinely local, unhurried atmosphere.
What to bring
- Proper walking shoes — this route covers more ground than a typical village romería
- Sun protection and water for the walk
- Cash for food and drink stalls
What time to arrive
As with most Canarian romerías, expect the procession to get moving around midday. Arrive in Fasnia by late morning to see the start before it heads out toward Los Roques.
Parking
Fasnia is a small municipality — park in the village centre before the procession sets off, as the route itself is on foot along rural roads rather than through streets you could drive.
Fasnia is roughly 30-40 minutes from El Médano. Check our full guide to romerías near El Médano for what else is on that weekend, and book your stay at The Tree House Hostel to make it part of a longer south-Tenerife trip.
